What is an infographic? If you don't know, go look it up. Read about it and then in your own words tell me what an infographic is. What do infographics do? How do they work? What makes a really good infographic?

An infographic is a way of briefly giving information on a topic by using pictures and information that are interesting to the reader and catch their attention. Infographics are used to either raise awareness of something or to give you brief information on a topic. A really good infogrphic is short, sweet, and to the point. Hehe, poop!

Tell me about your Homecoming weekend! If you didn't participate in the Homecoming festivities, what did you do? Share pics!

For Homecoming weekend I did many things. Friday I went to a friends house and had pizza then went to the game with them, where we destroyed South West. Saturday, I went to take pictures at 5:15. Then we went to Bravos with my date, another couple, and one of out friends. It is good Italian food. Then we went to the dance. After that we went to an after party at my house where we just hung out and ate candy along with my sister.  Then my friend Grant stayed over and I dominated him in Call of Duty Ghosts. Sunday, I woke up, ate, watched a show, fell asleep on my rug.

Imagine Mr. Bacon has asked you to suggest one way of improving Blue Valley High School to make it a better place for students. Think about the changes that are needed at your school. Pick one change you feel would really make a difference and explain what it is and why you'd make the change.

I believe that we should add more parking lots. This change is currently underway. Some of the Juniors this year almost didn't get a parking spot. Only ten sophomores are able to park this year. The reason I think that this should be fixed because we are allowed to drive to school as a sophomore.

What are your favorite apps on your phone or tablet? Why?

My favorite apps on my phone are Tabs, Flow, and Clock. Clock is the app that I use to set my alarms, use my stopwatch, that kind of stuff. It isn't necessarily a fun app, but it is very helpful to me. Flow is a game where you try to connect all the dots to each other in a certain design so that all the lines connect without touching others and filling in all the spaces. It is like one big logic puzzle. Last, but not least, is the app Tabs. Tabs is an app where I can look up a song and it will give me all the words to it with the chord letter over the top of it. I play piano, that's why I want the chords. So I can literally learn how to play my favorite music in literally less than 30 seconds.

What is email? When do you use email in your own personal life? List reasons and ways that people use email. What do you know about "email etiquette"?

Email is a way to send mail electronically. People usually use email for business, invitations, and to inform. It is proper to put dear and the person your are sending it to at the top. It is also good to put something like sincerely, your name at the bottom

Now that you've been in Emerging Technology for several weeks... what do you think? Do you think the web tools (Drive, Evernote, Bubbl, etc.) are helpful to you? Do you think they will be helpful throughout high school or even college? Explain.

I think that Emerging Technology is a lot of work. I do believe that those tools are helpful  to me because it helps me to organize myself and it helps me to further understand the content in my paper. I do think they could be helpful throughout high school and college for the reasons that I have just stated. They can keep my thoughts organized and it helps me further understand the content.

Blog Post of the Day:
Do you enjoy writing? When do you enjoy it? What kind of writing do you enjoy? Why do you think the ability to write is so important no matter what kind of writing it is? Give an example that you enjoyed writing or hated writing. Why?

I enjoy writing sometimes, I like getting to write about what's on my mind or what is going on in my life. So basically just "free writing". The ability to write is, arguably, very important because it is our biggest form of communication during this time. It is within books and also all over the internet. Writing is also very important because it is the most efficient way to keep records and information of things that happen in the world. Writing is important no matter what kind it is because it can help us get things off of our minds, it can increase our intelligence, and it can help us more thoroughly understand the thing that we are writing about. I have enjoyed writing this year in English because we are supposed to write about what is going on in our lives, what type of person we are, etc...

Reflect on this quote. Give an example of a time in your life that this might have been the case.

I believe that this quote is very true. The quote itself may be a little confusing at first, but if you read through it a couple of times it's easy to understand. An example of when this case might have been true is when I wasn't very prepared for a test at the beginning of the year and then i got a bad grade on it.

What did you do this weekend? Share pictures if you have them!

I had a very casual weekend. Friday I went to the football game and then hung out with some of my friends at their house. On Saturday I worked with my "band", took a nap, and hung out with my friend Bradley at a carnival type thing. Sunday was my more exciting day. The new Destiny game came out and I have wanted to get it for awhile. So Sunday I made a deal with my Mom that if I took everything out of the garage, sweeped the garage, then put it all back in a more organized way then she would get it for me.So I did, it was a lot of work! It was somehow fun in the end though, and it was worth it.

Blog Post of the Day:
What is the importance of research? Why do you need to know how to research? What have you learned in high school about researching topics and finding quality resources? Have you had a helpful teacher that has taught you to research? Explain.

Research is very important. Research helps us to understand how things work, give us background information, help us understand, look from a new perspective, etc... You need to know how to research in life because you will come across points in your life where you will need to research, whether it be for a school project or just how to make chicken. So far in high school I have learned an easier way to research, through evernote. Evernote makes research a whole lot easier than before. I have had a helpful teacher to help me with that because a teacher taught me about evernote.

Global Issue Selection

Healthy Lungs Vs Cancer Lungs

For my global issue in Emerging Technology I have chosen lung cancer. I have begun researching the issue and you can find my research questions here.
Blog Post of the Day:

Kids these days! They are always on their phones. They should try to pay more attention to the life going on around them.  I understand that social media and all that is a lot of fun, it's cool, and it's important. but that doesn't mean that you have to always be doing something on it. I see kids on their phones when they are hanging with their friends, with their grandparents, with their parents, etc... Just try to have some respect to the people around you.

Blog Post of the Day:
Tell me about the global issue you selected. What do you already know about the issue? What are you looking forward to learning about it? Explain.

I chose lung cancer for my topic. The causes of lung cancer are old age, radiation, and the wearing down of your bodies cells. The effects of cancer are black spots on the body, death, loss of function. etc... It can be prevented by living a healthy lifestyle and taking out the cancerous cells before they can spread through the rest of the body. I know that cancer is a very big topic, it is a very common disease, and it is very bad. I have always wanted to learn about cancer, this project is a good opportunity to do so. My family has a history with skin cancer, which I know isn't lung cancer, but I wanted to do my topic as cancer and to do so I had to choose a branch of cancer. I don’t know anything more about the topic, that's why I chose to research it.

Blog Post of the Day:
Yesterday I asked your to "think differently" and push yourself to be uncommon with your PSA project using Google Slides. Why do you think I asked you to do that? What is the point? Why not just use bullets and headers? Explain.

You asked us to do this so that we would be creative, our presentation would be unique, and so that you can learn more about the type of person that we are. It helps us to grow as a person. You asked us not to use bullets or headers because you aren't thinking differently when you use them, they are boring and bland, and it doesn't help the person watching to understand the presentation (keeps them focused in on the presentation).

Tell me all about your Labor Day weekend. What did you do? Include photos!

I had a very fun end exciting labor day. On Friday I had my first high school soccer game. We lost, which stinks, but I thought we played really well considering the fact that we played the best team that we will play this year. Saturday was a pretty simple day for me, I rested and worked out, not much to it. Sunday was probably the most exciting day for me. My cities professional women's soccer team was in the championship. It was a very big deal for my family because my dad owns and runs the team. We had a medium sized party for people to watch the game. We ended up winning the championship! It was awesome. We celebrated all night long. I had a very good labor day weekend.
